Cumulus is the only global association to serve art and design education and research. It is a forum for partnership and transfer of knowledge and best practices. Cumulus consists currently of 226 members from 49 countries.

Open Design for E-very-thing

Cumulus Hong Kong 2016 is an international conference for designers, researchers, students and citizens to be a part of a series of events concerning Open Design. Events include international design conference, round table Cumulus working group meetings, design movie festival, exhibitions, design tours and more.

The theme of Cumulus Hong Kong 2016 is ‘Open Design for E-very-thing — exploring new design purposes’, which seeks to explore this openness of design, namely the opening up of design process and design for openness. Six different tracks are set to explore the new purposes of design, including Open Design for Empathy, Ethnography, Experiment, Environment, Education and Engagement.

We cordially invite you to submit contributions on any of these six tracks and join the conference in Hong Kong from 21 to 24 November 2016.

Abstracts on any of the six topics below are welcome. Selected applicants may present their final submission in a format of their choice: full paper, short paper, workshop, artefact, fashion collection, movie or video.
