Head of Design and Innovation Centre
“Sustainable Cities”
Full-time permanent contract to start on 1st FEBRUARY 2012
I – CONTEXT:
As part of its ongoing development, the Ecole de Design is setting up its third centre for design and innovation, based on the theme of “Sustainable Cities”, to complement the two existing centres: “Readi” and “New Eating Habits”.
The head of a design and innovation centre has a dual function: they are in charge of a “laboratory” (experimenting, contracts, incubating projects, etc) as well as being course leader (Master’s degree: topic-oriented program) of the subject entrusted to them.

II– RESPONSIBILITIES
1/ Creating and developing the design and innovation centre "Sustainable cities"
- nurturing of innovative projects
- industrial partnerships, projects and papers
- institutional partnerships
- national and international networks
- participation in symposiums and publications
- contribution to an innovative teaching approach for the relevant topic-oriented programs

2/ Supervizing topic-oriented programs on the "Sustainable cities" theme
- development of the syllabuses of its topic-oriented programs (currently: Mutations of the Built Environment and New Mobilities)
- creation of new Master’s programs
3/ Running topic-oriented program "Mutations of the Built Environment"
- Recruitment and Coordination of a team of teachers, experts and professionals
- Monitoring students
- Organization of examining boards and exams
- Promotion of the students’ work
- Supervision of the students’ tutorials for their final degree project
- Encouraging participation of students in prestigious national and international competitions
- Coordination and follow-up of educational industrial partnerships
- Face to face teaching with students from their option (250-300 hours per year)
- Development of research to enhance the quality of teaching and encourage innovation
III - PROFILE
- Master’s degree in architecture, spatial design or Engineering/design with spatial design skills
- Good knowledge of issues associated with sustainable development in town planning (new uses and challenges for sustainable development: travel/transport, habitat, networks, etc)
- Strong organizational and managerial skills
- Good teaching skills
- Experience in managing design projects
- Fluent English ESSENTIAL (spoken and written)
- Good mastering of French language (spoken and written)
Contract: Full-time permanent contract to start on 1st FEBRUARY 2012
Pay: 39.7 k€ annual gross + luncheon vouchers + supplementary health insurance
Employee status: “Cadre” (managerial/executive rank)
Collective labour agreement for non-contractual private education
