Desis Philosophy Talk #1:
Emerging Aesthetics
Is sustainable social innovation generating a new aesthetic paradigm?
.
Social innovation cases from diverse contexts around the world appear to have common qualities. These qualities attest to new ways of organizing the resourcing of everyday life and the social relations that sustain those organizations.
What does it mean to say that social innovations have an aesthetic? Does this amount to a new paradigm in aesthetics? What can philosophies of aesthetics teach us about social innovation, and vice versa?
The discussion will be based on a background paper proposed by Ezio Manzini and Virginia Tassinari. Invited discussants are Victor Margolin, Clive Dilnot, Cameron Tonkinwise, Tom Fisher and Margherita Pillan.
.
