Cumulus presents the student awards winners - Cumulus 20th Anniversary Exhibition

 

 

 

Cumulus is proud to present the authors of winner projects submitted for the Cumulus 20th Anniversary Exhibition which was held in Shanghai, China from September 8 -October 8, 2010. The award ceremony took place during the Cumulus conference ‘Young Creators for Better City, Better Life' hosted by Tongji University.

Born in Australia in 1983

 

Experience

Michael  is currently undertaking PhD with the Monash University, School of Architecture. Part of his research is undertaken in practice at Hayball. In addition to research, he contributes to some of Hayball's residential projects including the Development Typologies along Tramways Corridors and new medium density housing typologies for Villawood at Point Cook. His PhD investigations are premised upon the need for an examination of the processes involved in residential-intensification in Melbourne, at a time when the design of new communities and the intensification of established suburbs command the attention of architects.

Becky has recently graduated from the Royal College of Art in Industrial Design Engineering. During this time she specialised in experimental design and started the Super Prosthetics Project in collaboration with Holly Franklin, about exploring armwear as an object of empowerment, choice and identity. Becky enjoys living in London and has previously trained as a Mechanical Engineer at Imperial College and spent time working in the UK, US and Australia. Becky would like to express her gratitude to the Cumulus team for the honour of receiving this award and giving the subject of women and prosthetics a platform for discussion.

In 1982, I was born in Korba, a remote city in Chhattisgarh state of India. In 2005, I graduated with Bachelor of Technology degree from Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology (DA-IICT), India. In 2010, I completed Master of Arts studies in New Media Design from Media Lab unit of Aalto University School of Art and Design (previously known as University of Art and Design Helsinki), Finland.

 

I have over three years of work experi­ence which includes varied profiles of user interface designer, usability researcher, videographer and researcher in Finland and India. I am interested in exploring social, economic, political, cultural, spatial, and technological aspects of various (Information and Communication Technology) ICTs especially amongst people be­longing to marginalized section of societies.
