Areas of responsibility:
This job advertisement is especially directed at experienced Industrial Designers for whom the education and career advancement of young talents is of special concern. Your task as future head of the institute includes:
operational management of the institute,
holding classes in German and in English in the Bachelor and Master degree programmes,
strategic further development of the courses of study and their curricula,
acquisition and implementation of subject-specific R&D projects, both on a regional as well as on an international level,
active maintenance and extension of contacts to industry and relevant professional associations as well as the alumni network of the degree programmes.
As an Industrial Designer with a corresponding university degree, you have
at least eight years’ experience in the area of “Product Design“ and / or “Transportation Design“,
a pronounced design sensibility and creativity,
excellent teaching, management and team-working skills,
the ability to awaken enthusiasm for Industrial Design in young people,
the ability to combine theory and practice optimally,
the ability to address current trends and developments in the area of Industrial Design in an active manner, and to incorporate these into teaching and applied R&D.
Relocating to Graz is an essential requirement for the position.
Contract: Part-time (min. 80%) or full-time (100%)
Minimum remuneration: € 5,979.9 before tax, based on a full-time contract (100%)
Higher remuneration is negotiable, depending on level of experience and qualification.

General qualifications for heads of degree programmes:
subject-specific diploma degree (240 ECTS) OR a Bachelor’s (at least 180 ECTS) and Master’s degree (totaling 270 ECTS) OR a post-secondary or tertiary professional education, when required by the teaching responsibilities,
PhD OR certified equivalent artistic qualification,
at least eight years of professional experience, of which at least three must have been acquired outside a university OR at least eight years of professional experience and a postdoctoral lecture qualification (a “Habilitation”),
proof of a suitable pedagogical-didactical qualification (this requirement can be replaced by an internal further training at the university during the first three years of employment),
excellent rhetorical and presentation skills,
competence to carry out sound academic / scientific research,
profound theoretical and practical knowledge in the discipline,
an excellent command of German,
a good command of English,
interest in active cooperation in an open and innovative environment.
