What is expected from a board member Cumulus expects an active role of each member in the Cumulus Executive Board either concerning the board members or the president.
The Cumulus Executive Board meets a minimum of three times per year. CEB has also for example an active role in organising conferences, workshops, competitions, exhibitions, in various Cumulus coordinated or related projects etc. CEB members act intensively towards the member institutions and other Cumulus partners.
Who can be proposed by whom Cumulus welcomes applications especially from the female candidates. There shall be no more than one member from any country, excluding the nationality of the President. Any Full member partner institution in Cumulus is asked to propose a Board Member or the President in formal writing. Should current Board Members wish to continue, their home member institution has to make a written proposal of their candidacy.
Executive Board The Board member shall be a present or a former rector, dean, head, director or professor.
Presidency Any Full member institution can propose a person for Presidency. The President shall be a present or a former rector, dean, head, director, or full professor of a Member institution. There are no restrictions on the nationality of the President.
Number of the Cumulus Executive Board members The CEB comprises of the President and eight (8) to eight (10) members. According to the statutes, 1/3 of the members of the Board are to be changed every third year in the election of the New Executive Board. According to the Statutes the members can serve in the CEB for maximum of two (2) three (3) year periods.
Candidacy proposal
1. Endorsements The candidate for CEB membership and/or Presidency by a Full member institution has to include an endorsement for Cumulus Executive Board membership or Cumulus Presidency in formal writing signed by an authorized person (rector, vice-rector, head of administration) on logo paper of the home institution of the candidate.
The endorsement is an agreement between the proposing institution and the candidate that the person is available for the Board and the candidate will be personally present at the General Assembly during the election. Through making a written proposal of the candidacy the proposing institution simultaneously agrees to cover fully the costs related to the participation of the elected person to the CEB meetings and other necessary activities.
2. Recommendations The candidate has to include in the papers a recommendation from a minimum of two (2) existing member institutions of Cumulus for her/his membership in Cumulus Executive Board or as the President.

4. Letter of motivation Letter motivation is a statement of the candidate why she/he wishes to become a board member and how he would act as one, what she/he she would do in his mandate for Cumulus and show her/his vision for the organisation.

Voting procedure 2010
A 2-minute word is to be given to each candidate.
The election will be made by authorized representatives of Full Members in the General Assembly in Genk in Belgium on 29 May 2010.
An authorized representative is a representative (1 person) registered beforehand to the General Assembly; such a person represents their home institution and additionally can represent another Full Member, subject to a respective proxy informed in writing or via electronic mail to the Secretariat prior to the General Assembly until the registration closes by the Secretariat. The proxy is to be shown at the registration to the General Assembly. A Full Members' representative shall not represent more than one other Full Member. The Proxy was approved in 2009 London General Assembly.
Neither the existing CEB III members, nor the President can vote. The Secretary General cannot vote either.
The voter hast to vote 10 persons among the CEB IV candidates. The voting of the full member institution is valid only with ten (10) votes. If a there are more or less than ten (10) candidates, the ballot is dismissed. Each member institution can vote only one person from one country.
The candidates who receive the highest number of votes in the board elections shall be nominated to the Cumulus Executive Board IV 2010 - 2013. However, the number of board members cannot exceed ten (10). CUMULUS BOARD ELECTIONS 2010
