specializing in Product Planning

 

             Responsibilities:

             You will be teaching techniques of product planning based on

             scientific principles and professional experience to be applied in

             product planning processes, and sustainable economic aspects of

             the planning, development, production, and use of both consumer

             and capital goods. You will lecture, hold seminars, and tutor design

             and planning projects in the MA and BA courses concerned with

             topical and expected future questions of the theory and practice of

             product planning and product design, such as globalization,

             occupational health, or sustainability. Your teaching will be spread

             over 18 contact hours per week and you will be expected to

             contribute to the development of the product design courses

             through teaching and research, especially to strengthen their links

             to other areas like corporate communication, market research,

             technologies, marketing, and distribution. You will be expected to

             participate in the University's self-management commissions.

             in §46 of the LHG (State University Regulations).

 

             Profile:

             We are seeking a scientist well-versed in product planning who

             will be enthusiastic and capable of taking the initiative in

             cooperating and maintaining an interdisciplinary dialogue with

             other educational institutions, (institutes, colleges, or universities)

             and companies on applications-oriented research projects.

             We expect the successful candidate to take an active part in the

             development of the MA programme in Product Planning and

             Design and lead the establishment of a suitable research

             laboratory at the University of Design Schwäbisch Gmünd.

 

             Requirements:

             You should have a university degree, preferably in the area of

             design, and to demonstrate aptitude for scientific work (generally

             through a PhD) and be able to demonstrate excellent professional

             work in product planning and product design, educational aptitude,

             the ability to motivate students successfully, encourage their

             development, and to transfer professional knowledge convincingly.

             A minimum of five years' successful professional experience is

             required, at least three outside the university field. You should have

             international teaching experience at University level and be willing

             to teach in both English and German.

 

             The first appointment to the position of Professor is limited initially.

             Upon fulfilment of the legal civil service requirements, successful

             candidates will attain tenure, as a rule after a probationary period

             of 3 years. The University wishes especially to encourage qualified
