COMMON THREAD FOR THE COMMISSION EUROPEAN COMPETITION OF IDEAS
The European Commission is looking for an idea to give the buildings and building clusters that it occupies in the cities of Brussels and Luxembourg a symbolic common thread in the aim of making the Commission more visible and recognisable to the general public. WHO CAN TAKE PART?
The competition is open to students enrolled at an institute of higher education in architecture, art, design or other discipline such as fine arts, graphic arts, visual communication, graphic design or a related discipline.
To enter, you must be an EU citizen and your educational establishment must be situated in one of the 27 EU Member States.
You must be aged 18 years or over.
You do not have to provide proof of your age, citizenship or enrolment at your educational establishment when you submit your entry or proposal, but you will be asked to do so if you are among the three finalists. WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO DO?
You must first register by sending an e-mail stating your surname, first name, date of birth, e-mail address and the name and address of your school to This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it before midnight, Brussels time, on 31 July 2010. You will then be asked to submit your proposal in accordance with the information supplied in the competition rules. HOW SHOULD YOU SUBMIT YOUR PROPOSAL?
You should upload your proposal before midnight, Brussels time, on 30 September 2010 to a web space, the address of which will be communicated to you on receipt of your registration to participate in the competition. Please note that the uploading space will only be activated as of noon, Brussels time, on 4 August 2010. HOW WILL THE PROPOSALS BE EVALUATED?
A selection board formed of 5 members of staff of the European Commission will select the competition winner and the winners of second and third place, based on the criteria set out in the competition rules. WHEN WILL THE WINNER BE ANNOUNCED?
The three finalists will be selected in November 2010. WHAT WILL HAPPEN FOR THE FINALISTS?
The winner of the competition and the other two finalists (in second and third place) will be invited to a prize-giving ceremony, which will be held in Brussels in December 2010. The travel and accommodation expenses of the three finalists for participating in the prize-giving ceremony will be covered by the Commission.
The winner will receive 3 000 Euros and the entrants who receive second and third place will receive 2 000 and 1 000 Euros each, respectively. WHAT ABOUT COPYRIGHT AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY?
The competition winner will cede all copyright and intellectual property rights connected with his/her proposal to the European Commission. WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF ONE OF THE THREE FINALISTS DOES NOT MEET THE COMPETITION CRITERIA?
A supplementary preselection list will be compiled in addition to the list of the three finalists. If one of the three finalists does not meet the competition requirements, he/she will be eliminated and the list of the three finalists will be amended accordingly, using the supplementary preselection list. > Competition rules Legal notice |
