THE ROLE OF THE MEMBER UNIT IN NATIONAL AND REGIONAL SECTORS AND IN HOME CITY AND ITS COLLABORATION WITH PARTNER UNIVERSITIES, ASSOCIATIONS, INDUSTRIAL AND BUSINESS CONNECTIONS AND OTHER INSTITUTIONS. OCAD functions as a hybrid - first as a university of art and design, second as a cultural institution, and third as a partner institution able to intervene effectivley to meet the needs of diverse communities. We are working collaboratively with the three other Toronto universities in the development of our graduate programs. We have obtained government funding and major industrial support to undertaken a major research project on the cultural and entertainment industries with two of the other Toronto universities. We hold major funding from the federal Canadian government for mobility research. OCAD's galley and exhibition program is a key instrument in providing a showcase for contemporary art and design. And the provision of cultural leadership to the City of Toronto is seen as a major role. |
