MAIN FOCUS IN EDUCATION The Faculty of Art and Design have five study programmes: art education, media studies with audiovisual media culture and graphic design programmes, industrial design, and textile & clothing design. Education offers artistic, theoretical and analytic tools with which students can refine their own artistic expression, produce applications and work as art educators. |

RESEARCH ACTIVITY AND MAIN RESEARCH AREAS All the programmes of the Faculty of Art and Design contain studies in research and methodologies. The primary objective is to promote research in the field of applied arts on the degrees of BA, MA and Doctor of Arts. Research in the faculty of art and design is characterised by the close interaction of science and art thanks to the faculty's unique position as part of the multi-faculty university. Research issues cover topics related to the North, experience industry, service design and digital technology used in art, media and cultural industry processes from innovation to production. |

| B. AIMS, PHILOSOPHY AND COLLABORATION | ||||||||

SUMMARY OF MISSION STATEMENT The faculty will focus in North and Artic issues, in research of art, art education, media and design and in cooperation with experience industry and tourism. Various research and development projects, which are conducted in cooperation with actors outside of the university, are considered as applied research. |

THE ROLE OF THE MEMBER UNIT IN INTERNATIONAL SECTOR AND ITS COLLABORATION WITH PARTNER UNIVERSITIES AND OTHER INSTITUTIONS Student and researcher exchange is based on either a bilateral exchange agreement or an international exchange programme - for example Nordplus, North2North, First and the Socrates/Erasmus programmes. European cooperation includes universities in the Nordic countries and European Union Member countries and East European countries such as Romania, Hungary and Russia. |
