THE ROLE OF THE MEMBER UNIT IN INTERNATIONAL SECTOR AND ITS COLLABORATION WITH PARTNER UNIVERSITIES AND OTHER INSTITUTIONS KHIB is one of two national colleges of art and design in Norway. The subject areas taught and researched are characterized by their international focus and orientation. As implied by these facts, international collaboration is of vital importance to the institution. Taking part in international co-operation is common throughout the institution also because a substantial number of staff and students are non-Norwegian. KHiB plays an active role in ELIA. The academy is from 2006 the coordinating institution of KUNO, a Nordic-Baltic network for cooperation within Fine Art. KHiB is also active in the sister network Cirrus, which facilitates Nordic-Baltic cooperation within design and applied arts. Since 1992 KHiB has been active in the Erasmus programme. |

|
THE ROLE OF THE MEMBER UNIT IN NATIONAL AND REGIONAL SECTORS AND IN HOME CITY AND ITS COLLABORATION WITH PARTNER UNIVERSITIES, ASSOCIATIONS, INDUSTRIAL AND BUSINESS CONNECTIONS AND OTHER INSTITUTIONS. As a university college providing practice based education in art and design KHiB is dependent on collaboration with the professional world outside the institution. Solid relations with external partners, both private enterprises and public agencies, are established particularly within the design area. From 2007 a design incubator offers work places for five MA design graduates. The incubator project is financially supported by the municipality of Bergen. |
