The Organization Committee of 2008 Lotus Cup International Industrial Design Award (2008 Lotusprize) invites participants.
The 2008 Lotusprize is sponsored by Hunan Provincial Government of China. It is a brand new international design award that aims to encourage and celebrate all the innovative achievements of industrial design and the contributions of designers. The 2008 Lotusprize, with "Innovation, Harmony and Value" as the theme, will invite world-famous experts in design to judge the designs from all over the world, and make an international promotion for the awarded products.
The 2008 Lotusprize have been endorsed by the Cumulus Association and ICSID.

Innovation, harmony, and value.
- Innovation - advocating innovative concept and inspire creative passion to lead the trend in innovation age
- Harmony - creating sustainable design in conformity with "resources-effective and environment-friendly society"
- Value - Focusing on user experience to boost products' added-value and brand value
Categories
Lotus Prize will be awarded to entries mainly focusing on conceptual design. The category covers:
- Design for life: design of disaster-prevention and relief products including related emergency medical products against flood, drought, frost and snowstorm, fire, earthquake, typhoon and etc
- Vehicle design: automobiles, motorcycles, electric motorcycles, rail traffic, yachts and etc.
- Equipment design: engineering machineries, machine tools and etc.

First screening and results publication - 25 December 2008
Final adjudication - 10 January 2009
Awarding ceremony - 11 January 2009
