The Cumulus Executive Board and EIDD Board approved the collaboration agreement in their meetings during Saint - Etienne conference 20-23 November 2008. The agreement was signed during Cumulus Conference St.Etienne France on Friday 21 November 2008.

The partnership is drawn up between EIDD and CUMULUS, to provide a further framework for possible joint initiatives, supporting the common goals of both organizations, enabling collaborative actions to be planned and implemented, and making effective use of the complementary strengths of both organizations.
A basic framework for collaboration already exists in the shape of the Kyoto Design Declaration, adopted by Cumulus in 28 March 2008 with the endorsement of EIDD - Design for All Europe. Another document forming the basis for the collaboration is the EIDD Stockholm Declaration© 2004, a one page document on Design for All that has been translated into more than 20 languages.
EIDD - Design for All Europe is the joint European platform for social planners, architects, designers and others who believe in the potentials of their professions to play a vital role in the necessary transformation of our societies into more cohesive, innovative and sustainable ones.
With member organisations in 20 European countries and with a concept that is attracting increasingly growing interest around the world, EIDD - Design for All Europe is dedicated to change global mind sets by exploring and demonstrating how design can improve life for everyone. Design for All, that is design for human diversity and social inclusion, represents a good deal for businesses and for the society as a whole, and a professional challenge for decision-makers, planners, architects and designers.
