mission statement

Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences is one of the largest university of applied sciences in Finland. Metropolia educates the professionals in the fields of culture, business, health care and social services, and technology.

Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences has several Bachelor’s Degree Programmes in the field of culture and creative industries in Finnish. The Degree Programmes are Design, Conservation, Cultural Management, Fashion and Clothing, Film and Television, Media and Music.

Helsiki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences offers both Bachelor and Master –level degree Programmes in Art&Design, Business Administration and Technology and provides opportunities for life-long learning.

bachelor level programs

The Bachelor in Design degree (Intended completion time 4 years) can be completed only in the Finnish language.
The Degree Programme in Design (BA) contain:

1.      Textile Design

2.      Interior Architecture

3.      Industrial Design
The extent of the studies is 240 ECTS credits.

 

master level programs

MA, 60 ECTS in Conservation –Restoration

Research, development and innovation are part of the basic mission of our university of applied sciences. We focus on development and innovation activities, as well as supporting research, for the benefit of the Helsinki metropolitan area.

Our strengths are high-quality expertise in different fields, the implementation of ideas into practice and the fine-tuning of solutions so that they meet customer needs. These strengths are served by the multidisciplinary nature of our operations, the abundance of competent people at the UAS and our open international cooperation network.

We create, enrich and develop new solutions in cooperation with businesses, the public sector, organisations and local residents.

application deadlines

Within EU according to the instructions of the EU-programmes. Otherwise for the autumn-term preferably by March, for spring-term by October.

teaching languages

Finnish, partly English - teachers and students however are fairly fluent in English.

cost of living per month (studying and living)

No studying fees, but living costs relatively expensive: from 500-700 euros - onwards per month, depending on the accomodation.
