•    EVERYONE CAN CHANGE THEIR WORLD

international role

Torrens University and the Think Education are members of the Laureate International Universities group which now accounts for 1,100,000 students worldwide. Here for Good is the spirit of Laureate International Universities. As the largest global network of higher education institutions, of which Torrens University Australia is a member, we’re united by a belief in the power of education to change lives. In addition, we’re serious about making an enduring commitment to the communities we serve. To us, this is about purpose and permanence. This is what we mean by Here for Good.

Outside of Laureate, Billy Blue College of Design (BBCD), Media Design School (MDS) and CATC Design School (CATC); Torrens/Think also maintain active links with partners throughout the world.

A recent restructure of the international grouping of Laureate Design and Media colleges has seen the Media Design School (MDS), Auckland, New Zealand, become affiliated with Torrens as part of a new grouping – Laureate Australia and New Zealand.

First-level activity for Torrens/Think sits within the Africa, Middle East, Asia Pacific zone (AMEA) which means member institutions throughout the zone are developing coordinated projects around programs, content, mobility and internationalisation projects premised on positively effecting all students, whether they undertake mobility projects or not.

Torrens/Think has included globalisation in its core goals with the object of ensuring students graduate with an enhanced understanding of international opportunity and cultural diversity. Mobility is one strategy, but not the whole – a variety of projects are underway to work towards every student being impacted.

AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND ROLE
The headquarters of Torrens University is in Adelaide and, along with the Think Education Group, has campuses in Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, delivers through a partner in Perth and has a significant cohort of online students enrolled in design programs Australia wide. All state campuses and partners maintain active credit transfer agreements with other educational providers.

The Design Vertical (Faculty of Design) consists of the following colleges:
•    Billy Blue College of Design, Torrens University, Australia
•    CATC Design School, Think Education, Australia
•    Media Design School, New Zealand

The Design Vertical maintains active links with industry advisers and employers through formal advisory committees set up to advise on course content and through the various arms of its work-based learning strategy.

The BBCD Design Studio, which undertakes internal and external design and media projects is currently building an online platform to create the major portal for contact with industry and the professions. This will enable the organisation to extend the opportunity for every Degree and Diploma student, whether studying face to face or partially or fully online to undertake a minimum of one credit-bearing subject of work-integrated learning (WIL). This minimum will underpin the more traditional programs for work placement and industry-based learning.
