Mission

Unitec inspires people to discover and apply their intellectual and creative potential and contribute responsibly to their societies and cultures.

International role

Unitec has direct collaborations with more than 80 institutions worldwide including research and development work, collaborative provision, study abroad, and the School of Design’s Artist in Residence work. We are also involved with commercial work and consultancy in many countries across a range of disciplines – including art and design, technology, computing, education, natural sciences and architecture.

National role

Unitec is a large, mutli-disciplinary, Tertiary Education institution. With over 12,000 full-time equivalent students it is the largest dual-sector provider in New Zealand, with a reputation for applied research, innovative educational delivery and the employability of our graduates.

- Four curated public galleries on campus.
- The CIRRUS Generator – a design development and incubation centre on campus for graduates to establish and grow design businesses.
- The Hothouse – a research and development centre on campus, working directly with over 40 businesses to generate and develop design-based IPR through intensive collaborative practice.
