Mission

The founding premise of İstanbul Bilgi University is that the ultimate goal of the advancement of knowledge is the happiness and well-being of the individual and of society. İstanbul Bilgi University seeks to educate free-thinking, creative, intellectually-curious and enterprising individuals who will contribute to a world in which knowledge is the primary driving force in society, in which knowledge is access to it has come to be seen as a fundemental human right.

International role

In accordance with the needs of modern education, Departments of Visual Communication Design (VCD) and Photography & Video (POV) give high priority to international engagement. İstanbul Bilgi University is an associate member of the European University Association (EUA) and the International Association of Universities (IAU).Through the bilateral Erasmus agreements signed with 10 different Universities in Europe and the Cumulus Program, Departments of Visual Communication Design (VCD) and Photography & Video (POV) both provide their students with the opportunity to spend part of their study abroad and present the incoming students with the unique chance of partaking in the welcoming and vibrant academic environment at BİLGİ.

National role

Main focus

İstanbul Bilgi University Department of Visual Communication Design aims at educating the designers of tomorrow with the expertise first to conceive the most compelling visual problems then dwell upon them systematically, applying their practical media skills together with theoretical knowledge so as to offer creative solutions. At the end of this challenging process, students become adept in advancing the applications of developing technologies in daily life. Towards the fulfillment of this mission, the program is designed to equip the students with a professional and comprehensive training in visual media while endowing them with the required liberal arts education. In VCD, the core courses cover various topics such as multi-media design, publication design, cyber culture, animation, typography and video production. The curriculum is shaped by the educational policy of the department which prioritizes practice and end-product; thus the students are encouraged to develop their own personal style in design.

Cost of living per month (studying and living)

Estimated living expenses for international students, excluding accommodation, are around 300-400 euros per month depending on the student\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s lifestyle. Accommodation costs are around 200 euros. Books and administrative fees are approximately 100 to 150 euros per semester.
