Summary
Mission
The mission of the school is:
To offer academic, profession-oriented bachelor- and graduate educations at the highest level within the field of architecture, plus PhD-education within architectural fields.
To offer profession-oriented supplementary and further education within architectural fields up to and including master level.
To perform research and artistic development work at the highest level directed at continuously qualifying the education, the practice of the profession, and the inter-disciplinary integration of architecture.
International role
The Aarhus School of Architecture participates in the Erasmus and Nordplus programmes (student exchange). AAA also cooperates with a large number of foreign architecture firms (practical training).
National role
The Aarhus School of Architecture cooperates with other educational institutions (project work, workshops etc) and with public and private firms (practical training).
Main focus
The officially stipulated time of study of the education at the Aarhus School of Architecture is five years: a three-year Bachelor education and a two-year Master education.
Bachelor of Arts in Architecture:
During the first part of the education, basic architectural subjects and disciplines are taught: sketching, building technology, architectural history and theory etc. The first year’s themes are: space, form, function, construction and context; the second year: architectural planning and architectural design. Students have a fixed curriculum for each year. By the end of the first year the students have to pass an examination to be admitted to further studies. The assessment of the Bachelor-studies after six semesters is carried out with external examiners.
Master of Arts in Architecture:
The duration of studies is two years. The aim is to give the student the competence to practise the architectural profession in one or more of the specialized fields of the profession or to finish PhD-studies.

The tuition fee is payable biannually.
