Specific subject area description
HDK’s academic programmes, master’s programmes and research activities in the field of design are based on a holistic view of the discipline and focus particularly on the shared creative expertise that lies at the heart of all design work. Our students take an interdisciplinary and critical approach to artefacts and services in a post-disciplinary spirit that emphasises the social and societal aspects of design, including environments, processes, structures and systems. For this position, we are particularly looking for candidates with a background in both design and social sciences with experience undertaking research at the intersection of design and business.
The Department of Business Administration at the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg offers extensive education and research in the field of business administration and economic geography. The Department of Business Administration is divided into four sections: Industrial and Financial Management & Logistics, Management & Organisation, Marketing and Accounting.
As Professor of Business & Design, you will primarily be responsible for building the research environment and collaboration between HDK and the School of Business, Economics and Law through the platform Business and Design LAB (BDL). The Professor will be actively engaged in research activities, which includes applying for research funding, leading research projects and be responsible for the dissemination of research results. The position also includes supervising doctoral students and developing doctoral courses and the Business and Design master´s programme.
The qualifications required for academic positions are stated in Chapter 4, Section 3 – 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance and in the University of Gothenburg’s Employment Procedures.
Qualifications for this employment are:
A PhD in a relevant subject area such as business, design, management studies, or anthropology.
Documented research and teaching experience in the intersection of design and business such as design management, collaborative design processes, design ethnography, design and social change.
