The designer，Kevin Kelly think“BECOMING”– everything is BECOMING bigger and bigger, BECOMING the main trend of the future,” said Pro. Cuiqin Lan, directive dean of the School of Fashion Art and Engineering at BIFT. As technology changes, human emotions, dreams and desires are flowing and expanding. As an activity of blending sensibility and rationality, design is a creative medium to coordinate variation of forms and functional values of a product. The evolution of design is related to the cultural background of the whole society and the atmosphere of times and runs through the harmonious and rich relationship between human beings and living organisms, becoming an important organizational form to shape the living environment. According to Kelly’s vision, we will always be ‘new’ and should have unlimited curiosity, as well as the ability to keep learning. For students majoring in design, design is not only the result, but also the process. For graduates majoring in design, the graduation exhibition presents not only the results of learning, but also the formation and evolution of design thinking.
Zeyi Zhu, a graduate of the School of Fashion Art and Engineering, said in an interview that his four-year study in BIFT has aroused his keen interest in how design can be involved in solving social problems arising from the process of urbanization. His graduation project is also from this topic. In the future, he hopes to do human-oriented design and explore the boundaries of product design.
Yexi Zhou, a jewelry design graduate, talked about her understanding of art and jewelry design in the interview, and made an introduction to her own design. “Art is an eternal spiritual product,” he said. “a good art derivative needs to be more creative and high-quality. It should not only stay in the stage of simple reproduction and low aesthetic feeling, but also be of great significance and value to the taste, vision and aesthetics of the public.” We hope that all of you, as an art visitor, can get in touch with art and understand classic art from the perspective of jewelry. Therefore, we chose to use digital technology software to build a virtual exhibition hall and a museum, where we introduced to you the artists and their works of different periods we chose, and also showed our graduation design works correspondingly. So that people can really become ‘art viewers’.
