Cumulus was invited to the 1st ever conference of PADI Pan Afrikan Design Institute iDEC 2019 taking place in Winneba Ghana 6-9 February 2019 hosted by DesignGhana.
PADI is a network of African designers and educators that Cumulus is collaborating. The event was The Milestone after the first Cumulus conference in Africa that took place in Johannesburg in September 2014 hosted by our member Greenside Design Center and College.
Pan Afrikan Design Institute (PADI) is an organisation of Afrikan design associations whose objectives are to promote, establish and maintain: professional status in the design sectors, improve the standards of design and its education, and to promote the economic benefits and general awareness of good design to government and industry. Currently, PADI has got individual members from Botawana, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda. DesignGhana so far is the only association member of PADI. Cumulus thanks the whole PADI team Felix Ofori Dartey, Simon Charwey, Eddie Appiah, Patric de Graft-Yankson, Desmond Laubscher and all participants to the event and Cumulus Executive Board members Robin Turner and Sara Hyltén-Cavallius and numerous others for your valuable contribution. More boosting between Africa and the rest of our members and partners are in the process already. A historical moment will take place during the coming Cumulus conference end of May 2019 in Rovaniemi Finland. Stay tuned!
