Entering its eighth decade, FCAD is a global centre of media and creative invention. As a disrupter in innovative education, FCAD is dedicated to developing creators with authentic voices who engage directly with creative industries around the world.

With 26 undergraduate and graduate programs that are shaping the future of their fields and tight-knit partnerships around the world, FCAD offers more opportunities to educate the next generation of creative leaders than anywhere else.

FCAD prides itself to have a global and connected approach to the creative fields. Our global connections in four major metropolitan cities around the world: Dubai, London, Italy and New York gives an edge to our students, faculty and alumni to be globally co-creating and collaborating. 

  • FCAD Cortona: Led by Ryerson University and top industry and academic partners from Italy and around the world - FCAD’s creative hub in Tuscany is a catalyst for creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship.

    Ryerson FCAD’s boutique campus is Cortona, Italy is an immersive opportunity for students to apply innovative thinking to creative projects in a historic Tuscan town located in the heart of Italy. FCAD Cortona provides the flexibility to gain an understanding of the range of opportunities within the interdisciplinary field of creative, media and design industries. Students have the ability to shape their individual FCAD Cortona experience with the option to choose from a range of course offerings. Students work closely with subject matter experts in Italy while earning credits towards their degree and collaborate across FCAD and with international partners with a focus on design and creativity.

  • FCAD Dubai: FCAD and the Canadian University Dubai (CUD) partnered to introduce MENA’s first Creative Industries program and Creative Innovation Zone. Adapted from Ryerson’s Zone Learning model, FCAD is connecting local industry leaders and incubators to offer experiential learning opportunities.

  • FCAD London: FCAD London Hub introduces students to the London market through transatlantic creative projects with local partner universities and industry. In support of our evolving creative hub, we established an alumni mentorship program that advises both students and faculty members in forming connections within the United Kingdom.

FCAD is dedicated to centring access and inclusion when developing global partnerships. 

  • Global Campus Studio, an internationally-focused offering that provides students at Ryerson University and partner institutions around the world the opportunity to collaborate with diverse international teams on original creative projects

  • Virtual Exchange, an alternative model to traditional exchange where partner institutions have the opportunity to take interdisciplinary courses offered at FCAD combined with an intercultural Canadian experience

  • Short-term International Intensives are immersive experiences that allow students to explore the creative industries in other parts of the world ranging from 5 days to 6 weeks. Intensives may be for-credit courses, or co-curricular projects and competitions offered by FCAD or our international partners.

    • Current Virtual Intensives include: KEA School of Design and Technology in Denmark, Hochschule der Medien (HdM) in Germany, WC2 Network in England, Coventry U in England, City University London in England, and more.

    • Past Intensives (with travel) include: Artevelde University of Applied Sciences in Belgium, Hochschule der Medien (HdM) in Germany, Finland, Amsterdam, Heidelberg, Berlin, Los Angeles, Croatia, Greece, Hong Kong, New York, Prague and more.

The Faculty of Communication and Design (FCAD) is at the heart of the evolution of cultural industries. Groundbreaking work takes on all forms through research, experimentation, collaboration and making.
