UTS Design and Innovation Research Center, Australia is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to develop a design-based methodology for mapping innovation capacity (within a sector/network/ecosystem), advise on experimental interventions to boost that capacity and capture research data from participants on evidence of success and the effectiveness of these interventions.
An exciting opportunity exists for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the UTS Design and Innovation research centre (DI:rc) on a 3 year fixed-term contract. You will join a team of passionate and collegial researchers focusing on the use of design-based methodologies to map the innovation ecosystem in a diverse range of sectors of Australian society to design initiatives that will drive its future development and prosperity.

The Design Innovation research centre (DI:rc) is a transdisciplinary centre located at UTS.
Our team is focused on the development of innovative, design-oriented research with the potential to transform the companies we work for and the cities in which we live. Given our transdisciplinary focus we do not reside within a faculty but form part of the UTS Creative Intelligence Strategy
As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in DI:rc you will operate within our program, developing a design-based methodology for mapping innovation capacity (within a sector/network/ecosystem), advise on experimental interventions to boost that capacity and capture research data from participants on evidence of success and the effectiveness of these interventions.
As the successful applicant you will:
conduct academic research into the application of Design Innovation to non-design practices
frame research findings within the disciplinary contexts of design, business and innovation
be involved in the development of experimental and trans-disciplinary research approaches to
support and validate the Design Innovation research programs
publish research papers, case studies and empirical studies in internationally recognised research journals and conferences as well as at general industry forums
establish functional and effective research collaborations with industry and academic partners, both nationally and internationally
effectively and efficiently supervise PhD and Masters research students so that student progression is facilitated within agreed time frames.
To succeed in securing this role you will:
possess a PhD in Business (e.g. Innovation Management) or Design
have specialist knowledge in Design and Innovation that is compatible with the current research directions of the centre
have an affinity with the Design Innovation research centre’s priorities in theoretical research, experimental methods development, practice based and action research
provide evidence of capacity for independent research, with a focus on industry based action research and qualitative analysis techniques
provide evidence of capacity for the responsible management of projects with parties outside
the university environment
provide evidence of research writing in a wide variety of formats, including Journals, Conference Papers, Industry Reports and Blogs
possess experience in student supervision, preferably at the postgraduate level.
Salary Range: $95,559 to $109,348pa (Level B)
The university offers 17% employer provided superannuation and salary packaging opportunities. This appointment will be on a fixed -term basis for three years.
