Professor for Fashion Design at Brug Halle Germany
Applications are invited for the following position in the Faculty of Design at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle, to be filled immediately:
Professor for Fashion Design (pay grade W3)
For this design professorship, we are looking for an individual with a well-founded expertise based on several years of both practical and teaching experience. The chair will be responsible for teaching design in both the Fashion Design bachelor course and the Conceptual Fashion Design master´s course, as well as advancing them further.
As well as fulfilling the professional requirements of § 35 of the Higher Education Act of the State of Saxony-Anhalt, the successful candidate will also be expected to have a contemporary and forward-looking understanding of fashion, reflecting cultural, social, economic and ecological contexts. Knowledge of international developments and perspectives in fashion design and an expertise in handling the latest technological developments are required.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop a concept for the teaching of basic skills in the design process, and to advance design approaches expanding the format of the creation of a collection. In their teaching, they will aim to advance material and workshop orientation as well as the discussion about material innovation. Experimental approaches to the presentation of coursework are explicitly welcomed, and interdisciplinary projects are desirable.
A willingness to actively participate in the university´s internal administration is expected. The position is initially limited to a period of five years. Exceptions to this will be considered during the appointments procedure.
The pay grade is determined in accordance with legal and budgetary requirements.
