Trophée Presse Citron/BnF a new international competition : Yuzu Press
Working together for free speech
The « To get there » conference, the general meeting of the Cumulus association, was held in Paris last April under the umbrella of the Césaap (Conférence des écoles supérieures des Arts appliqués de Paris). It highlighted a multi-cultural and international interest for press cartoons, with numerous art schools from Europe and beyond expressing their desire to work together and support free speech.
Presse Citron: the press cartoons number one
The fame of the Trophée Presse Citron/BnF (25 years running, including the past 5 years as a collaboration between the École Estienne and the BnF, Bibliothèque nationale de France); the success of the new partnership with Lebanon over the past 2 years (stemming from a collaboration with Plantu through the « La Plume de Pierre » trophy); the 50th anniversary of our historical partner Charlie Hebdo in 2019; the 30th anniversary of the CLÉMI, founder of the Semaine de la Presse et des Médias à l’École; the support of our institutional partners and the growing interest of the cultural influencers of the 5th arrondissement lead us to a new ambition for our movement.
École Estienne: an international school
Many sections and professors from École Estienne, along with the principals, built patnerships and exchange programs with several other arts schools (e.g. Barcelona, Bologna, Vilnius, Tallin, Buenos-Aires and Montréal). The Trophée Presse Citron/BnF is an integral part of the school, and its extension to the international would allow for even more implication internally and would contribute to the international recognition of the school.
Call for partners
The organizing partners suggest the addition of an International Prize for the 2019 edition of the Trophée Presse Citron/BnF. This prize would be open to any student from any interested school. The winner will receive 800 euros and many great gifts coming from our partners .
To help in this endeavour, we ask for the help of a panel of foreign schools and art teachers who would be interested in leading this project in their schools.
The press release from the previous edition of the Trophée can be used as a reference to better grasp what the project is about. The rules, specifications and schedule will be made available as soon as we receive your application. Please check DOSSIER DE PRESSE VF
For further information, please contact Elisabeth Lafay as soon as possible and no later than 15th December. The competition rules will then be forwarded to you.
The cartoons must be submitted by 15th February
